No need to tell. Akihabara is the first place that I explored, just arrived in Tokyo! Maybe I'll tell about "the thing between me and Japan" one day, anyway that's the place where the story started. Ok, it was something like 10 or 15 years ago... I was in Italy...
Akihabara was just a kind of epic place somewhere in the World. And because I was a regular good girl, I couldn't even figure myself alone around Tokyo, in the far future.
As soon as I crossed the ground floor of the Yodobashi Akiba mall (10 or even more floors of techie gadgets, practically the heaven), popping out in the middle of the station's "Electric Town" gate, the duty free shops selling manga gadgets, the maids giving away flyers, hundreds of salarymen running I don't know where, then I realized.
"Damn, I've been able to do that. I'm in the middle of Tokyo, and it's the fucking cool!".
Akihabara is the place for people sick about technology. And it's also the place of people sick about manga and anime. Call them (better, call us) geek, nerd, otaku or whatever - Akihabara is just love at the first sight.
What did I do there? Well... I bought my Internet connection at Yodobashi Akiba. I walked around random, taking pictures of many things along my way - shops selling manga, videogames, DVD, anything; the Gundam Café, just next to the AKB48 theatre; the maid cafes hidden in every corner...
I was still quite confused, the jump from Tanzania to Japan is a big one. Here you find some pictures - I had fun pumpin' up colors, so the shoots look a bit like... that kind of feeling. Doki doki!! (a manga's heart stupidly beating too fast).
